Why do so many people allow themselves to be completely blinded by partisan politics? It seems as if many people lose their ability to use any critical thinking whatsoever during times of elections, and they allow themselves to be dragged along by politicians’ false words.
So many people buy into idiotic attack ads from their favored candidate, and it puzzles me how people can buy into such nonsense without doing some fact checking.
Is the root problem of Americans not being able to use critical thinking a problem with the education system, such as relying on rote learning, or are humans just naturally biased?

there is nothing that people cling to so tightly as their righteously born convictions that they are absolutely correct in every manner of thought.

I can see why, to a certain degree, many tend to aggressively support their candidates because they have been raised to hold to a certain set of beliefs. I tend to get that way at times myself. I don’t, however, understand why people are so willing to believe all the rhetoric, promises, and other miscellaneous hype from some media source. In this information age, their is no reason for us to not take a certain degree of responsibility and do some of our own research into how the candidates really match up against each other. The information is out here, it’s up to us to use it.
