WHY NEWSPAPER SALES ARE DOWN

Today has been the day from hell. So many more reasons for me to hate the world. Loyalty. What ever happened to loyalty. So many of the old timers in this business are either retiring or dieing. They are being replaced by young, know-it-all editors who in reality know nothing. You will call the major newspapers and you get this 23 year old something and pitch a story and they say something like “who is that” or “why are you bothering me with this”. They just do not get the story and they just do not get being nice so you will continue to come back to them. In the old days, I would call the photo desk and if they were not interested, they would say something like, we can’t use it now, but please keep calling us back with your material. Now you get a snobby bitch, who knows nothing about the business and was only hired because some new 40 something editor likes to watch her ass roam around the newsroom doing nothing but shaking her fat rear end. One newspaper in New York is being sued because the older experienced woman photographers now get the sh***y end of the stick, because this balding editor thinks he’s gods gift to woman. He even runs around the newsroom and bars calling these slutty woman his angels. The end result, is this newspapers readers are way down. They are way down because who would want to be treated so bad by someone half their age who knows nothing. One publicist who I just spoke to a few minutes ago, was banned from some paper I will not name, because he gave them a item that was a little off. It was no big deal, they made a correction. It was only a fluff piece anyway. Hell the NY Times has tons of corrections everyday. But this woman reporter started sending nasty e-mails telling him he was banned from the paper even know he supplied them with great items over the years. This publicist went to her boss, who has been around for many years and he said you are not banned. Then this publicist gets a e-mail from this woman saying, ” you think you can go to my boss, we stick together here”. They just won’t run this publicists stuff anymore. Well tomorrow they will learn when their competition got the scoop for the cover tomorrow on a huge story. I am sure the publicist will get a call saying, why didn’t you give it to us. Well, why do you think. The publicist should tell them their reporter said he was banned and let the chips fall where they should.

MORE NON-LOYAL PEOPLE AKA SOME PUBLICISTS

You know the economy is real bad out there no matter what they tell us. A lot of my publicist friends are either getting by or not. One PR couple is behind on everything, their house in the Hamptons, their NY apartments and every bill. I love and adore these two people, but they never throw me a bone. They never hire me to photograph a event and every time I mention it to them, they tell me the event hired someone else. They have used this excuse for years now and it has not washed for a very long time. They had a event Monday night and the photographer who they originally hired had a emergency, her mother died. I never minded that they hired her, because she is one of the best, and I know she is willing to work harder than me. She will take everyone names and then send the photos out from the publicists list. I will not do this, because it really is the publicists job. If I have to stand there and get name after name, I’m losing time, when I should be getting more and more photos. Besides, it’s their event, they should know who these people are. The correct way to handle this would to have someone from their office follow me and get the names so I can get more photos. I am syndicated worldwide, and if I have to stand there taking names, we lose shots. Anyway, I am always running stories for these publicists. It takes my time and energy. A few weeks ago I confronted them on dealing with this website whose owners had ripped my best friend off a few years back. I lost money too, but I lost mostly time to these crooks. I can not even get into how vile these people are who ripped off good and honest people and continue to do so. I told my PR friends that if they wanted to deal with them, don’t bother me. They did not see my point, even know they were there to watch everyone get taken for a ride. Then I start hearing stories on how my PR friends need accounts and are behind in everything, so I decide since I really do care for them, I will promote their accounts anyway I can, so they can survive. So the other night they have this big event, they hire someone else and i see that vile website was there as a guest and I was not even invited nor hired. Loyalty. Where is the loyalty and most of all honest standards? Where are the morals?

I’M DONE WITH ALL THE TAKERS AND LOSERS

When I got sick around 7 years ago, I got rid of all the users and takers. I got rid of my upper East Side apartment, shipped everything out to my family who moved to Chicago and moved into a hotel expecting to die. I never felt so free in my life. I remember walking down Fifth Avenue in the middle of the night and I felt free as a bird. No bills, no possessions, no responsibilities , no nothing. Just my camera around my shoulder. I was free at last and ready to die. Well I guess I didn’t die. I got well, I got a new apartment, started Times Square Gossip, which has grown huge since we are syndicated on so many top sites. Now all the users and takers are back. And once again I have to get rid of them all. As much as I love these two publicists, I have to move on. It can no longer be a one way street. If they want to still be friends and not do business, nothing would please me more, but I am sure they will hate me and not want to be friends. They never throw me business, they throw it to someone else, even know I am one of the best photographers out there. I got a kid to support, family to help, friends to help and by the time I am done, there is not much left for me because I am always helping everyone. I work day and night on Times Square Gossip. I even work weekends and holidays. I try so hard to put out a crisp clear website and at the same time be fair to everyone. So I am done with them and others. They can hire who they want, they can deal with the crooks, they can do whatever they want. Don’t bother me anymore with your items, stories and most of all, pretending that you are loyal and care, because you are not. As tired as I am today, I know that the homeless kid I took off the streets is getting better everyday. I know that I have been loyal to my friends and to my readers. I know Times Square Gossip is going places with more and more readers every single day. Television networks are using our stories and we are going to the top and I do not have to be a bad person or hurt people to get there. I keep my word, I help people and most of all, I am loyal. To me, this means more than money, so goodbye!
